    Since graduating from university, he has been working in various positions at the Department of Numerical Analysis of the Faculty of Informatics of ELTE, and has been a university professor since 2003. He teaches various subjects of Analysis to computer programmers and program designers (formerly mathematicians). He obtained his candidate's degree in 1991, and became a doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2001. He habilitated at ELTE in 2002. He was awarded a Széchenyi Professorship between 1999-2002.

    His research topic is harmonic analysis, including single and multivariate Fourier analysis, Gábor and wavelet analysis, etc. and their applications. He received the Gábor Dénes Award for his work in Gábor and wavelet analysis.

    His scientific activity has attracted a lively international response; he has more than 220 publications. He has published five monographs so far, four of which are published by Springer. His results are cited in a considerable number of domestic and foreign papers on his research topic.
    He has participated in numerous international conferences with presentations, and has been an invited speaker in many cases.

    He has been abroad several times with the support of international applications. For example, in 1992-1993 he worked at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich with a DAAD scholarship, in 1998 and 1999 at the Humboldt University in Berlin with a Humboldt scholarship, in 2004 and 2005 at the University of Vienna with a Lise Meitner scholarship, and in 2016, 2017 and 2019 he spent a month as an invited lecturer at several major Chinese universities (Beijing, Wuhan, Changsha, Hong Kong, Macau). In 2019 he also spent a month as an invited researcher at the University of Cambridge.

    His awards: Kató Rényi Prize (János Bolyai Mathematical Society, 1988); László Patai Prize (János Bolyai Mathematical Society, Patai Foundation, 1990); Pro Scientia Gold Medal (MTA, 1989); György Alexits Prize (MTA, 1997); ELTE Faculty of Informatics Scientific Prize (2004, 2010); Dénes Gábor Prize (Novofer Foundation, 2017); Academic Prize (MTA, 2019).
