Imre Toth
At his first job, at the Hungarian Optical Works (MOM) Research Laboratory, he worked on lens design. He was the first to use the first Hungarian electronic computer (M-3) to perform optical calculation tasks.
In 1960, he became a member of the Central Research Institute of Physics (KFKI) of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, where he worked as head of the Computer Engineering Department until 1969.
In 1969, he was commissioned to establish the National Planning Office's Computer Center (OT SZK). Under his leadership, a strong center for the economic application of computer technology was established, a computer center that could be considered very modern at the time. He was the director of the institution for nearly two decades.
He was one of the founding members of the NJSZT. He served as a member of the presidency, the management, and the chairman of the Publication and Terminology Committee in several terms. He played a prominent role in the mechanization of the membership register. He represented the Society in the magazines Információ Elektronika and Kármítástechnika.
His awards: Bronze Order of Merit for Labor (1967); Silver Order of Merit for Labor (1971); Neumann Prize (NJSZT, 1980).
