  • He worked in the agrometeorological field at the National Meteorological Service (OMSZ) from 1984. He recognized the indispensable role of informatics in meteorology early on, which is why he also earned a degree in programming mathematics from ELTE in 1989.

    From 1993, he worked at the Telecommunications and Data Processing Independent Department, then at the Telecommunications and Informatics Department, and at the Informatics and Methodology Department. As a result of his good organizational skills and tenacious work ethic, he became deputy department head in 1993, department head in 1999, and then department head in 2005. Following the complete organizational restructuring of the OMSZ in 2019 – with the abolition of his department – he was appointed chief advisor. From 2024, he is the meteorologist-IT consultant to the CEO of the legal successor of the OMSZ, HungaroMet Nonprofit Zrt.

    As a meteorologist-informatics specialist, he actively participated in the multiple renewal and modernization of the OMSZ infocommunication system over 35 years: meteorological message switching system (MSS), Meteorological database (CLDB), central data repository and archive, and the related process control and product management system (CPDS), etc. He played a pioneering role in developing the appearance of meteorological products in online media (e.g.: www.met.hu), in creating the volunteer detection interface (MET-ÉSZ), and in creating the Meteora mobile phone application.
    From the beginning, he considered it an important task to strengthen the unified approach and service nature of informatics in meteorology. He was open to new challenges and the introduction of new opportunities.

    Honors: Ministerial Certificate of Recognition (Minister of Environment and Water, 2002, 2007); Honorary Title for National Defense (Minister of Defense, 2007); Pro Meteorology Commemorative Medal (Minister of Environment and Water, 2009); Hungarian Silver Cross of Merit (President of the Republic, 2020); Schenzl Guidó Award (Minister of Energy, 2025).
