Tamás Szántó
He graduated from the Budapest University of Technology (BME) in the Instrumentation and Control Engineering Department, Electronic Instruments Department.
Between 1972 and 1987, he worked in the Geodetic Instrument Design Department of the Hungarian Optical Works (MOM). His main activity was the development of digital electronics for geodetic instruments and the management of these developments.
In 1980, he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Budapest University of Technology (BME), majoring in digital system design, and in 1983, he defended his doctoral dissertation entitled "Digital system engineering issues in MOM geodetic instruments".
The results of his developments are well indicated by his patents in various types of gyrotheodolites and microwave rangefinders, and the gold diploma of the Young Inventors World Exhibition awarded in 1985.
Between 1987 and 1993, he headed the development department of CAD/CAM systems supporting the development, production and calibration of analog integrated circuits at MIKI Measuring Technology Development Company, and then served as sales and marketing director.
From 1993 until his retirement, he was one of the founders and the managing director of Mikrovolt Development and Trading Ltd., where they developed and sold the MIXI educational system for secondary and higher vocational education. The educational system, which operates on the emulation principle and uses the top-down educational method, was recognized with the Hundidac ´95, '97, '99 and 2001 gold award, and the Worlddidac ´96 silver award.
Between 1988 and 1998, he was the vice president of the Measurement and Automation Scientific Association (MATE) and the editor-in-chief of the journal Measurement and Automation. His activities were recognized with the Kolos Richárd Award in 1995. Between 1998 and 2004, he was also the vice president of the Hungarian Vocational Education and Training Association and the president of the Entrepreneurial Section.
