Endre Selényi
He learned the basics of computer science from Tamás Frey and Árpád Klatsmányi. He programmed the Ural-2 in his diploma project. Since graduating, he has been working at the Budapest University of Technology (BME) Department of Instrumentation and Measurement Technology (later known as the Department of Measurement Technology and Information Systems - MIT). In 1977, he obtained a candidate's degree and, based on this, a university doctorate, and in 1987, a doctor of technical science. He has been a university professor since 1987, and professor emeritus since 2013. Between 1988 - 1994 and 1997 - 2007, he was the scientific deputy dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (VIK) of BME.
His research field was initially related to digital measurement technology and measuring instruments, on which he wrote his PhD thesis entitled “Digital Balancing of AC Voltage Measuring Networks”. Later, he turned to highly reliable and fault-tolerant IT systems; on this topic, he defended his academic doctoral thesis entitled “Generalization of System-Level Self-Monitoring”.
Between 1988 and 2007, he was the chairman and co-chairman of various committees coordinating higher education in IT in Hungary. He headed the Informatics Science Committee of the National Scientific Student Council for 15 years.
His main technical creations, implemented in teamwork, are: automatic current transformer verification system, Zagyva-Tarna water management telemechanics system, microprocessor application technology system.
