István Sarkadi-Nagy
He began his professional career in 1972 at the Measurement and Computing Research Institute (MSZKI) of the Central Physical Research Institute (KFKI) of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He participated in the development of the first Hungarian BASIC compiler program, and then the CÉDRUS interactive terminal network. His most significant network development was the LOCHNESS network of the 70 computer control system of the Tokamak T10 fusion reactor of the Kurchatov Institute. He led the implementation project of the first Hungarian Ethernet network on the territory of KFKI.
Between 1985 and 1991, he was the scientific head of the Computer Engineering Department of the KFKI MSZKI. The software department developed the operating and network systems of the TPA computers, supported the industrial, laboratory and office applications departments of the MSZKI, and the developments related to the Paks Nuclear Power Plant of the Atomic Energy Research Institute (AEKI).
Between 1991 and 1997, as the managing director of KFKI IBIS Informatikai Kft., working in the application field, he managed business units working in government, banking and other areas. (Examples: Budapest Bank Kindle Bankmaster introduction, Hungarocamion Rt. logistics system development.)
Since 1997, he has been responsible for the development of the IT infrastructure of the KFKI Computer Science Group and, as the group's internal IT director, he manages the development of the common IT operation and network infrastructure. As an organizer of EU-funded training projects, he organized the first ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) Foundation courses in Hungary in 1998. Following the useful experiences of applying ITIL, in 2003 he and Péter Krauth launched the ITIL Foundation courses in Hungarian, organized by the IQSOFT John Bryce Training Center, which they have been conducting ever since.
In 2003, he started organizing the Hungarian branch of the IT Service Management Forum (itSMF), which serves as a user forum for IT Service Management in more than 30 countries and helps share experiences. Since 2005, as the president of itSMF Hungary, he has organized 30 conferences, at which domestic application experiences and international cutting-edge developments are shared with interested parties. He supports the development of Hungarian-language exam options for domestic IT professionals.
