Mrs. Ede Rutkovszky (born: Katalin Bíró)
His first job was at the Computing Center of the Kossuth Lajos University of Debrecen (KLTE) between 1975 and 1992, where he worked as a programming mathematician, and then as a computer science associate from 1993 to 1999.
His professional work traces the development of computer science. Initially, he wrote programs to assist researchers in various fields, primarily to solve statistical problems (ALGOL, FORTRAN, and later PL/I). Later, he became involved in the development of a program system to automate the university's data processing tasks, created programs for materials records, and then worked on database management systems (dBase, FOCUS, ORACLE, GUPTA, and Centura).
From 1993, he worked on the development of public university information systems, the University Information System (CWIS) accessible via the Internet. He and his colleagues were among the first in the country to set up and populate the university's Gopher and then Web servers. As an application administrator, he participated in the ReSeDa experimental research registry system project.
Meanwhile, between 1986 and 1989, he worked as a senior research fellow at the Moscow International Technical Scientific Information Center, an external institute of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (CMEA), on a mission from the National Technical Development Committee (OMFB).
From 2000, he was an assistant professor at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the University of Debrecen (DE), its successor.
As an instructor, he has developed educational materials for several subjects. For years, he has taught SQL, HTML, project management, the history of IT, and guided operating systems practice - in Hungarian and English.
In 2004, she became the Dean's Registrar of the Faculty of Informatics (FI) of the University of Debrecen (DE). As Registrar, she primarily performed organizational tasks and worked on establishing the traditions of the Faculty. She managed to organize many successful events at the FI, including the Informatics in Higher Education conference series, the Informatics Professional Days, programming competitions, and Girls' Day. She regularly visited high schools to promote IT majors.
He retired in 2015.
He has been a member of the Hungarian National Union of Students since 1981; for many years he worked as the secretary of the Hajdú-Bihar County Regional Organization.
For his activities, the NJSZT awarded him the Neumann Prize in 2005.
