    Founder and CEO of MorphoLogic Ltd., the first Hungarian company specializing in language technology research and development (since 1991).

    He has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Information Technology and Bionics (ITK) of the Pázmány Péter Catholic University (PPKE) since its inception in 2001, and has been a habilitated university professor since 2006; he is the vice dean for research and innovation, and the chairman of the Doctoral and Habilitation Council since 2010.
    Since 2012, he has been the head of the PPKE Language Technology Research Group, which he established.

    Representative of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in the General Assembly; Chairman of the Hungarian Language Interdepartmental Standing Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, former Chairman of the Dictionary Working Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Since 2014, Chairman of the Social Sciences and Humanities College of the National Scientific Research Fund (OTKA), and then of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NKFIH).

    Since 2017, he has been the Director General of the Institute of Linguistics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and later of the Linguistics Research Center.

    The research groups he leads have participated in 13 international and 27 domestic R&D projects by 2020. He is a member of several international organizations and scientific bodies shaping the future of European language technology. He is a former vice-president of the Hungarian Language Technology Association.

    In recognition of his professional work, he has received numerous awards: the Széchenyi Prize (Hungarian State, 2000); the László Kalmár Prize (NJSZT, 1995); the World Young Business Achiever nomination (Global Youth Parliament, 1999); the Tibor Gyurós Prize (Association of Informatics Enterprises (IVSZ), 2002); the “Hungarian Informatics” professional medal (Minister of Informatics and Communications, 2005); the Sámuel Brassai Prize (Association of Hungarian Applied Linguists and Language Teachers, 2005); the special prize for “Informatics Instructor of the Year” (Association of Hungarian Leading Informatics Experts (VISZ), 2009); the Dénes Gábor Prize (Novofer Foundation, 2010) and the Pázmány Plaque (Péter Pázmány Catholic University, 2013).

    And what else is important
    • hobby: music – he has a detailed catalogued collection of several thousand records. He used to be an active musician: he plays woodwind instruments, from baroque flutes to soprano and alto saxophones. His name is included in the publication Who's Who in Hungarian Pop Music. In the early seventies, he formed a chamber jazz band called QWYX with his friends and former schoolmates.
