Pál Pölöskei
He started working at Infelor as an econometrician. He worked on production functions, price forecasting, and modeling commercial companies.
From 1976, he participated in the economic calculations preparing the new economic mechanism. Later, he also assisted the work of the Computer Forecasting Coordination Working Committee of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (KGST). He developed several forecasts and studies in this field, which have been cited many times since.
In 1979, he was appointed head of the Data Management Department of the Computer Research Institute (Számki). He led the adaptation and dissemination of the Integrated Database Management System (IDMS) mainframe database management system in Hungary.
He used IDMS in several agricultural enterprise management systems (VIR), so the management system of the Békéscsaba Agricultural Industry Association (MEVIR) was also completed under his leadership.
He has published over 40 papers. He has been a member and chair of professional committees. He was a dedicated organizer of the International Seminars on Database Management Systems conference series.
- As party secretary, he was a signatory of the open letter of protest addressed to János Kádár in 1979, in which they protested against the criminal procedures of the Prague authorities, which were reprehensible from a human rights perspective.
