Tamás Őry
From 1964 to 1971, he worked on industrial automation at mechanical engineering companies (Ganz-MÁVAG, Hungarian Elevator Factory, Light Industry Machinery Manufacturing Company).
Then, until 1974, he worked in plant and system organization at the Institute of Industrial Organization and Computer Technology (KGM ISZSZI) of the Ministry of Metallurgy and Mechanical Industry.
Between 1974 and 1978, he managed the implementation of computer centers as a department head at the National Computer Company (OSZV).
At the beginning of 1978, the National Council of Industrial Cooperatives (the former National Association of Small-scale Industrial Cooperatives, OKISZ) established the Organization and Computer Company (OKISZ SZSZV), of which he was the director until 1992. An institution and organization capable of providing administrative, operational and system organization, as well as computer services for industrial cooperatives was established within a few years. Thanks to the company's activities, more and more industrial cooperatives utilized modern computer systems, and a novel computerized home exchange system was also implemented to meet the needs of the population.
He retired in 1993 due to illness, after which he worked mainly as a consultant, including at the National Health Insurance Fund (OEP).
He utilized his professional experience in the form of interest reconciliation and advocacy activities at several organizations. He also organized and led two sections of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce (MGK): the Small Business Section and the Organization and IT Section.
In 1990, the direct legal predecessor of the Association of Information Technology Enterprises (IVSZ), the Association of Computer and Organization Enterprises (SZSZVSZ), was established, of which he was the first president. Due to his health, he was only able to hold this position until 1992. He also played a significant role in the establishment of the Information Technology Interest Reconciliation Forum (1997) as executive secretary.
As a result of his illness, he founded the Benevita public benefit foundation for modern prevention and humane treatment in 1997, where he served as the chairman of the board of trustees until 2018.
