Géza Lőrincze

Date of birth:
1945.01.21.
Place of birth:
Pecs
Education, professional qualification:
  • Electrical Engineer - BME - 1968.

  • After graduating from university, he started working at the Particle and Nuclear Physics Research Institute (RMKI) of the Central Physical Research Institute (KFKI). In 1971, he moved to the Measurement and Computing Research Institute (MSZKI) of the KFKI, and participated in the development of the TPA-70 minicomputer.

Later he joined the TPA-11 program. As a developer, supervisor, and then as an independent scientific department head. He played a decisive role in the development, prototyping, and application work of the 16/32-bit data transfer TPA-11/4xx computer family, as well as in the development of the 32-bit TPA-11/56x.
The TPA-11/440 was advertised as a "megamini" around 1984, indicating that it was an improvement on the TPA-11 series. It added floating-point and transaction instructions, making it more efficient for running data processing applications. Another completely new development was the 32-bit system bus, the iX-bus, which communicated between the CPU and memory.
The TPA-11/420 was a technological development of the 440, with similar functions. The 440 was used, among others, in the “VERONA-plus” system of units 3 and 4 of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant. The team received the Jánossy Prize for the development.

He was a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of KFKI and the executive board of the international Digital Equipment Computer User Society (DECUS).

In 1989, he founded Globe Master Ltd., whose main profile is: card design, printing, coding, programming, and digital printing that can be widely used on various surfaces.

From 1995 he became an IT consultant for the Association of Technical and Natural Sciences Associations (MTESZ), where he was responsible for the establishment and development of the organization's IT network. He was the professional contact for the cooperation between Microsoft and MTESZ, and participated in the NJSZT ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) program as both an instructor and examiner.

Awards: Jánossy Award (shared, KFKI, 1985); Gold Medal of the Order of Merit for Labor (1985).
