László Kutor
Since 1974, he has been an assistant professor at the Neumann János Faculty of Informatics (NIK) of the Budapest Technical University (BMF), then an assistant professor, associate professor. Since 2008, he has been a professor. Since 2010, he has been the head of the artificial intelligence and mobile informatics department since the transformation into the Óbuda University (ÓE). Since 2016, he has been an honorary university professor at the ÓE.
In 1987, he obtained his doctoral degree in psychology from ELTE, and in 2007, he obtained his PhD in computer science from the University of Pannonia.
During his teaching career, he developed the themes and educational materials for the subjects Computer Architectures, Programming Languages, Artificial Intelligence (especially neural networks), Decision Support Systems, Theoretical Foundations of Informatics, Electronic Commerce, and Chapters from the Cultural History of Information Technology, which are available as electronic educational materials in addition to traditional notes.
In addition to his educational activities, he is an obsessive researcher and collector of the history of IT. In 2016, the ÓE opened a permanent exhibition of his decades-long collections, “The Evolution of IT”. His social engagement is characterized by the fact that he is one of the founders and for many years the president of the NJSZT Informatics History Forum (iTF), the organizer of the event series presenting the “Large Computing Workshops”, which played a decisive role in the development of Hungarian IT, and the video portrait series made with renowned domestic IT experts.
Awards: Award for Excellent Work (Council of Ministers, 1987); Outstanding Teacher of Kandó (Kandó Kálmán Technical College. 1999); BMF commemorative ring (2002); IT Instructor of the Year (Association of Hungarian Leading IT Professionals, VISZ, 2002); Neumann Award (NJSZT, 2003); Master Teacher Title (National Scientific Student Council, 2003), Knight's Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit (President of the Republic, 2012); Pedagogical Service Memorial Medal (Minister of Human Resources, 2016).
