Kalman Könyves Toth
After graduating from university, he began teaching in Kőszeg in 1954. He regularly sent assignments to the Secondary School Mathematical and Physical Journals. It was in Kőszeg that he came into contact with the then elderly Aladár Visnya (a schoolmate of Lipót Fejér); from him he received the original copy of Bolyai's booklet "Elements of Astronomy for Beginners".
Between 1963 and 1965, he was a mathematics and physics teacher at Szent István High School in Budapest.
After that, he worked at the University Computer Center (ESZK). In addition to assisting university education, he performed various statistical processing tasks for the ministry. In this context, he primarily performed the programming and organizational work for the statistical processing of university entrance exams, also developing the algorithms for the appropriate analytical calculations. Here he wrote his book on university admissions, “Intention and Reality”.
Later, he worked with linguists in the editing of the Hungarian Dictionary of Terminology. He also wrote chapters on the axiomatic structure of geometry and integral calculus for textbooks for mathematics students.
In 2009, fulfilling his wish, the Szeged-based Polygon Publishing House published the revised version of Farkas Bolyai's book "Elements of Astronomy for Beginners" by Kálmán Könyves Tóth (the reviewer was Gábor Péter Szabó).
- He graduated from the bilingual high school of the Benedictines in Pannonhalma in 1947. He was also a novice there, but ultimately did not become a monk.
- In addition to mathematics and linguistics, he loved music; his connection with these three sciences remained throughout his life.
- Between 1954 and 1963, in addition to teaching, he also organized an orchestra and choir from high school students in Kőszeg. They held high-quality concerts every year.
- Descendants of an ancient Transylvanian family, they received their noble charter from Prince Zsigmond Rákóczi.
