Kálmán Kardos
His first job was in 1956 at the radio department of the Hungarian Postal Service Experimental Institute, where he worked as a technician on HF field strength measurements.
Between 1956 and 1968, he worked in the Cybernetics Research Group (KKCS) of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. During the construction of the M-3 computer, he participated in the assembly, installation and development of the memory cabinet and the magnetic drum storage. Later, he participated in the operation of the M-3.
Between 1968 and 1974, he worked at the Data Processing Department of the Hungarian National Bank (MNB), where he performed the operational and development tasks of the H200 computer.
Between 1974 and 1975, he worked as a senior computer scientist in the Technical Department of the Organization and Information Center of the Taurus Rubber Company.
Between 1976 and 1998, he participated in the operation of the computers (HWB6620, HWB6640, HWB6660, DPS8, Dual DPS8) of the Central Statistical Office of Hungary's State Administration Computer Service (ÁSZSZ), performing development and, from 1991, management tasks related to computers.
- The magnetic drum magazine developed by the KKCS for the M-3 machine in 1964 was handed over to the Technical University of Timisoara, which it put into operation on site, also passing on its operating experience to the university's staff.
