Zoltán Istenes
He began his professional career at the research institute of the University of Nantes; then, since 1998, he has been working at the Faculty of Informatics of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE IK), where he is currently an associate professor.
He was the head of the Department of Programming Theory and Software Technology at ELTE IK; and the developer and responsible for several subjects, including Computer Architecture, Formal Methods, and Intelligent Mobile Robots. He often gives Erasmus and CEEPUS (Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies) guest lectures at various European universities, and participates in the organization and implementation of national and international robot competitions.
Since 2009, he has been actively involved in projects at the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT Digital), where he is the head of the Budapest Doctoral School and the academic professional responsible for the Autonomous Systems Master's degree. He is also the professional coordinator of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's Program in Intelligent Field Robotic Systems. He has led and participated in several international and domestic research projects (TÁMOP (Social Renewal Operational Program); European Union Horizon).
His scientific publications are in the areas of AI (artificial intelligence), IoT (Internet of Things), AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle), UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) and field robotics.
He is a member of several professional and scientific societies; he was also the founding president of the Robotics Section of the John Neumann Computer Science Society (NJSZT) between 2008 and 2020. In 2011, he received the Neumann Prize.
