    He graduated with honors from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (VIK) of the Budapest University of Technology (BME) in the field of Telecommunications. After graduating, he joined the doctoral program of BME. In 1996, he received his Dr. univ. degree, in 1999, his PhD. In 2007, he received his MTA Doctorate degree. In 2012, he was awarded the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Senior Member award. In 2019, he was elected a corresponding member of the MTA, and in 2025, a full member.

    His current place of work is the Department of Network Systems and Services (HIT) of BME, where he has been a university professor and head of department since 2008. His areas of expertise are mobile and wireless telecommunications, as well as quantum informatics and communication.

    Between 2005 and 2015, he also served as the research and development director of the BME Mobile Innovation Center. From 2020, he is the professional head of the National Laboratory for Quantum Informatics. From 2025, he is the dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics.

    Over the past three decades, he has held numerous positions in the Hungarian Association of Information and Communication Sciences. His positions at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences include: Doctoral Council, member (2014-2020); General Assembly, doctor representative (2010-2016); Department of Technical Sciences, vice president (2020-2023).

    His most important professional awards: György Békésy Postdoctoral Fellowship (ministerial fellowship, 2001-2003); BME Rector's Award for educating students for scientific work (2001); Tivadar Puskás Award (HTE, 2004); Master Teacher Gold Medal (OTDK, 2005); Pollák-Virág Award (HTE, 2009, 2011, 2016); Dénes Gábor Award (Novofer Foundation, 2011); MTA Academic Award (2017); Albert Szent-Györgyi Award (from the Minister responsible for education, 2021).

    His most important civilian awards: Calasanz Medal (Piarist Order, 1987); Hungarian Scout Association Re-Formation Commemorative Medal (1990).
