    Between 1974 and 1978, he worked at the Debrecen Computer Center of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) Computer and Management Management Company (SZÜV), initially as an organizer and later as a programming group leader. From 1978, he worked at the University of Debrecen (or its legal predecessor). From 1999, he was head of department, then director of institute, and then professor at the Institute of Applied Informatics and Logistics. In 1999, he obtained a PhD degree in economics, and in 2006, he was habilitated in management and organizational sciences. Between 2002 and 2005, he received the István Széchenyi scholarship. He participated in the organization of more than 20 scientific conferences. He was a member of 9 domestic and foreign professional organizations and held elected positions in several organizations.

    Between 1995 and 2000, he was the vice-president of the Hungarian National Academy of Sciences, and since 2000, he has been a member of the Supervisory Board. He was the elected co-president of the Higher Education Informatics Association (HUNINET) between 1996 and 2001. Since 2003, he has been the president of the Hungarian Agricultural Informatics Association. From 2003 to 2007, he served as a member of the presidency of the international organization EFITA (European Federation for Information Technology in Agriculture, Food and Environment).

    Since 2000, he has participated in the work of Doctoral Schools, as a lecturer and supervisor. So far, 8 students have obtained PhD degrees under his supervision. Since 2007, he has been a core member of the Ihrig Károly Doctoral School of Management and Organizational Sciences. He has published 250 publications. He has participated in several study trips abroad and has been a plenary speaker at international conferences abroad.

    Awards: In 1995, he received the Neumann Prize, in 2000, the MTESZ Prize, and in 2009, he received the Commemorative Medal for Agricultural Informatics from the Hungarian Agricultural Informatics Association.
