Katalin Hangos

Date of birth:
1952.09.27.
Place of birth:
Budapest
Education, professional qualification:
  • Chemist - ELTE - 1976.
  • programming mathematician - ELTE - 1980.
  • Academic degree:
Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences - 1994.

Between 1976 and 1978, he was a doctoral fellow at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and then until 1989, he was a research associate at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Computer Science and Automation Research Institute (SZTAKI). In 1989/90, he was a visiting professor at the Technical University of Denmark (Danmarks Tekniske Universitet, Kongens Lyngby). From 1990, he was a senior research associate and scientific advisor at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' SZTAKI, and then between 1991 and 1995, he was the deputy scientific director of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' SZTAKI. He obtained his candidate's degree in 1984, and became a doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1994.

Since 1996, he has been a university professor at the University of Veszprém, and then – after a name change: - the University of Pannonia (PE). He is the head of the Doctoral School of Informatics Sciences of PE (between 2015 and 2022) and a core member.

His research interests include dynamic analysis of systems and control theory based on engineering and physical principles, as well as model-based control and diagnostic methods. He has achieved significant and internationally recognized scientific results in the field of modeling and model analysis of nonlinear dynamic systems based on engineering principles, including stability analysis and the design of stabilizing controllers; in model-based diagnostics of complex industrial systems using discrete techniques; in the field of dynamic analysis of certain classes of physically motivated nonlinear dynamic systems (process and positive polynomial systems) and the design of stabilizing feedback loops. The main areas of application of his results are in the areas of energy, chemical industry, vehicle dynamics and transportation.

His papers have been published in leading journals in systems and control theory; he is also the author of four books published by international publishers.
Under his supervision or co-supervision, twenty-six students have so far earned academic degrees.

Important professional public positions: Member and Chairman of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Informatics Scientific Committee (between 2017 and 2022); Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Doctoral Council (from 2020); Hungarian representative in the General Assembly of the EUCA (European Control Association); Member of the Technical Committee on Chemical Process Control (TC6.1) of the IFAC (International Federation of Automatic Control).

His awards include: Czech Academy of Sciences Award (1992); Master Teacher Gold Medal of the National Council of Scientific Students (OTDT) (2017); Officer's Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit (2019).

    And what else is important
