  • Academic degree:
Candidate of Hungarian Academy of Sciences - 1985

During her university studies, she went to Humboldt University (where she met her future husband) through an exchange student. After graduating from university, she started working at the High Energy Research Institute in East Berlin, from where she was sent (from her family) to the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna for 3 years in 1966. Here she became acquainted with computer science and computers. – She defended her candidate's thesis on computer science in 1973 in Berlin (Akademie der Wissenschaften der DDR); she naturalized it in 1985.

When the family was already living and working in Hungary after 1980; he was employed at the Particle and Nuclear Physics Research Institute (RMKI) of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Central Physical Research Institute (KFKI), as a senior research fellow. He dealt with computer networks and internet applications, thereby supporting the research work of physicists. He was at the forefront of the use and introduction of new computer technologies.
From 1982 to 1985 he spent another 3 years in Dubna; in the developments there, he used the Fortran language with the support of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).

In 1990, he and Ferenc Telbisz participated on the Hungarian side in the cooperation agreement between CERN in Switzerland and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. In mid-1991, the line between CERN and RMKI was already up; with this, the Geneva center provided a connection to the High Energy Physics Network (HEPNET), which connected institutions engaged in high-energy physics research. (This was the first domestic Internet line established.)

He was among the first in Hungary to use e-mail and video conferencing systems, and he specifically encouraged their use.

He has participated in the research and development of the computer background of several major research projects. He has also been involved in major international projects such as the Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary (EFDA) and the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER).
