Zsolt Gerő
He worked as a lathe operator from 1943 and received his assistant's certificate in 1945. After the World War, he worked as a so-called TMK (planned preventive maintenance) manager at the Mechanical Laboratory (ML) until 1964.
Between 1964 and 1970, he was the technology manager of the Budapest Radio Engineering Factory (BRG), while earning an engineering degree by correspondence. At BRG, he led the development of production technologies for new computer products (data recorders, data carriers, magnetic tape cassettes); he was also the head of the design of the factory's computerized materials procurement and management system.
Between 1970 and 1972, he became the technical director of the Videoton Foreign Trade Company, (as such, he participated in the preparatory negotiations in Paris for the license and component purchases of the French CII 10010A and then the Mitra15 computers - for the production of the ESZR (Unified Computer System) R10 type). Between 1972 and 1974, he was the commercial director of the Videoton Computer Factory, where he was also responsible for creating a new 100-120-person specialized apparatus with computer skills.
Meanwhile, he was assigned for a month to be the director of the presentation of 14 Hungarian manufacturers at the Moscow exhibition of computer systems from socialist countries (ASZU, 1973). He also participated in the work of the relevant working committees of the OMFB (National Technical Development Committee).
Between 1975 and 1978, he was the development director of the Office Equipment Company (IGV).
Between 1978 and 1982, he was the commercial director of the Budapest Radio Engineering Factory (BRG).
Then he was the managing director of a Technical Development Company (1982-90).
Meanwhile (1980-85) he taught instrument technology as an assistant professor at the Department of Precision Mechanics-Optics, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, BME.
In retirement, he performed consulting and development tasks as a sole proprietor (1990-2012).
