Géza Garai
After graduating from university, he started working at Videoton, and from 1971 he became a development engineer in the Application Technology Department of the Technical Department of the Computer Factory. In 1972, as a department head, he was the project manager for the development of the VT 340 display (about 15,000 of this type were manufactured). After that, he created the VTS 56100 video terminal, which also operated with synchronous data transmission, based on the VT 340 display equipped with the Intel 8008 microprocessor. In 1981, he was appointed head of the Technical Department. Under his leadership, the VDDS 47600 microprocessor display terminal was developed, and then the VT 20 micromini computer system family based on it was developed. In 1986, he was the manager of the development of the TV Computer (about 9,000 of these were manufactured).
He worked for 2 years in Székesfehérvár and Budapest at the Bull-Videoton joint venture, where he managed integration and application projects for personal and professional computer systems.
After the privatization of Videoton, he worked as a development engineer at Axis Kft., developing and applying relational databases, until his early death.
- His talent was already evident during his high school years: he graduated from the Táncsics Mihály High School in Kaposvár, and based on his results in the national academic competition, he was admitted to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Budapest University of Technology without an entrance exam, where he was an excellent student throughout.
- In 2013, the Alba Regia Faculty of Engineering of Óbuda University launched the Garai Géza Free University.
