Gábor Dombi
Since 1997, he has been the founder and secretary-general of the Informatics (later: Information) Society Interest Negotiation Forum (Inforum). Researcher of the information society. The Hungarian Parliament's Informatics and Telecommunications Committee was founded at the initiative of Inforum (2000); and he was also one of the initiators of the establishment of the independent Ministry of Informatics and Telecommunications in the government (2002). The "e-Inclusion Ad hoc Committee for Reducing the Digital Divide in Hungary" organization published one of the basic documents for the development of the Hungarian information society, the Hungarian Informatics Charter (2000). Inforum initiated the e-Inclusion Movement in Hungary in 2007 (the establishment of the e-Inclusion organization), and the launch of the Digital Hungary Spring event series in 2008.
In order to spread digital literacy on a social scale, Inforum has been helping the spread of the information society and equal opportunities since 1999 by publishing books (e.g. István Váncsa: Hírvilág; Don Tapscott: Digitális gyermekkor), a series of intergenerational events (Grandchild-Grandparent Informatics Competitions: 2003–2009), setting up a user protection office (Inforum-Infomediátor, 2004), and creating a knowledge base.
In 2009, Inforum produced its first educational feature film series, which presented in 30 episodes the management of computers, the Internet and online services in a way that grandchildren teach their grandparents these skills.
The European Commission honored the organization and its Secretary General in 2008 and 2012 for their role in the eInclusion movement.
Since 2013, he has been intensively involved in the Jewish social history of the capital and the role of Hungarian Jewry in the modernization of the country.
