    From 1969, he worked at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Computer Science and Automation Research Institute (SZTAKI) on the subject of computer control of industrial processes; his main work, together with colleagues from SZTAKI and the Electric Power Industry Research Institute (VEIKI), was the development and programming of an algorithm for distributing the electrical load of the power plant units at the Tisza Thermal Power Plant.

    From 1979, he joined the Department of General Computer Science at ELTE, where he primarily taught assembly language programming of microprocessors and the theory of operating systems.

    Between 1983 and 1989, with minor interruptions, he worked programming minicomputers at ICD Computers in Munich.

    After 1989, he developed the new topic of the Translation Programs course at ELTE. In 1996, he obtained a PhD degree and was later appointed as an associate professor.

    From 1996, he visited the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca (BBTE) on a monthly basis, and then from 2005, the Sapientia Transylvanian Hungarian University of Targu Mures (EMTE), where he teaches the regular course Translation Programs. – In 2016, he received the title of honorary professor from Sapientia EMTE.

    Meanwhile, he wrote the books Translation Programs, Lambda Calculus, and Type Theory, which are fundamental works of Hungarian-language computer science literature.

    From 2004, he was the first and founding workshop leader of the Eötvös József Collegium Informatics Workshop at ELTE; he held this position until 2015.

    In 2017, he was assigned to lead the Informatics Workshop of the newly established ELTE Márton Áron College.

    In 2017, the Eötvös József Collegium published the book Pi-calculus, the theory of mobile systems.

    Professional board memberships: Bolyai János Mathematical Society (BJMT), NJSZT, Transylvanian Hungarian Technical Scientific Society (EMT).

    His awards: Tarján Award (NJSZT, 2001); Pro Universitate Memorial Medal, gold grade (ELTE, 2006); Eötvös József Collegium Memorial Medal (ELTE Eötvös József Collegium, 2015); Pro Ingenio Certificate of Recognition (ELTE, 2015).
