János Csépai
He is a founding member of the Informatics Research Group (1970) and the Department of Computer Science (1972) at the Marx Károly University of Economics ( MKKE ). In the 1971/72 academic year, he played a decisive role in organizing computer science training, developing teaching materials, and launching grade-level computer science education. He has been an assistant professor since 1972. Several of his university notes and textbooks were published in this decade.
From 1990, he headed the University's (then known as the Budapest University of Economics, BKE ) Computer Science Center (SZK). In this context, he also participated in the coordination of the IBM Academic Initiative inter-university project.
He was an associate professor from 1991. He contributed to the development of the computer system for the national central admissions process; he led the first operational project.
Between 1993 and 1998, he was the Director of Education and Information. He managed the university's educational administration; his responsibilities also included representing the university's education and developing regulations.
From 1998 to 2000, he continued to manage the operation of the Computer Center as IT Director. He was responsible for the establishment of the IT Service Center of the integrated university ( BCE ), defining its tasks and operational framework. After the expiration of his mandate, from 2000, he became an associate professor of the Department of Computer Science.
He retired in 2005. However, from 2006 to 2011 he was a full-time associate professor at the Department of Methodology of the College of General Entrepreneurship. In 2006, he received the title of honorary associate professor and the BCE Gold Medal.
Among his professional and social activities, it is worth mentioning that he was the president of the Hungarian Higher Education Informatics Association (HUNINET) between 1993 and 2003. He was a member of the NIIF Technical Council until 2002 and of the Hungarnet presidency until 2014.
