Imre Bölcskei
After graduating from university, he worked as an engineer at the Budapest Telecommunications Directorate, then as a development and investment department manager.
After a study trip to the Swedish AR telephone exchange for several months between 1969 and 1976, he became the head of the localisation program for postal telephone exchanges. (He later expanded his knowledge with a study trip abroad - in Austria; and by studying the telecommunications regulatory systems of other countries - in Finland, Sweden, Portugal, the United States of America, and Australia.)
In 1976, he received a request from the Hungarian Post Headquarters (later the General Directorate of Postal Services) to head the Development Department, which he held until December 1989.
Between 1989 and 1992, he was deputy head of department and then head of department at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Water Management (KHVM). He participated in the government-level management of the introduction of both digital landline and analog mobile systems, and in the development of legal conditions enabling the privatization of domestic telecommunications.
From 1992 to September 2000, Deputy State Secretary: Head of the Deputy State Secretariat established to manage the postal and telecommunications sector in the Ministry of Communications. Under his supervision, the digital mobile telephone system was introduced and developed rapidly, the privatization of the Hungarian Telecommunications Company (MATÁV), the construction of the national optical backbone network, and the digitalization of the landline telephone network took place.
From September 2000 until his retirement (early 2008), he was the regulatory director of MATÁV Hungarian Telecommunications Company.
After that, he worked as a consultant as the founding managing director of SI-Komment Kft. until the end of 2014.
He was the chairman of the Information and Communications Interest Reconciliation Council (HÉT) (2008-2014). He was the chairman of the Audit Committee of the Hungarian Association of Information and Communication Technology (HTE) (2008-2018).
Awards: Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary (Hungarian State, 1998); Professional Recognition for Hungarian Communications (Minister of Information Technology and Communications, 2003); Dr. Endre Magyari Award (National Communications and Media Authority (NHMH), 2017).
