Gabor Bojár
Between 1973 and 1981, he was the mathematics group leader at the Eötvös Loránd Geophysical Institute. In 1982, he and his partner founded Graphisoft. Under his leadership, the company not only became a multinational architectural and construction software developer and sales company, but also one of the world's leading companies in the market for architectural and construction design software (BIM: Building Information Modelling) running on personal computers. The company has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since 1998, and on the Budapest Stock Exchange since 2000, and has been a member of the German-based Nemetschek Group since 2007.
By re-cultivating the rust zone on the site of the former Óbudai Gas Plant, he founded Graphisoft Park in 1996, which became one of the main research and development centers of Budapest. In 1998, the Wall Street Journal selected him as one of the ten most successful entrepreneurs in Central Europe and he was invited to the World Economic Forum in Davos on several occasions. In 2007, he founded the Aquincum Institute of Technology, which accepts IT students from leading universities around the world for part-time training. Since 2012, he has been a member of the board of directors of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.
For his successful entrepreneurial activity in the field of information technology application and for raising the status of the domestic software industry, he was awarded the László Kalmár Award (NJSZT) in 1995, the Lóránd Eötvös Award in 1996, the Dénes Gábor Award (Novofer Foundation) in 1998, the Széchenyi Award of the Republic of Hungary in 1997, the Middle Cross of the Republic of Hungary in 2002, the Ernst & Young Businessman of the Year Award in 2007, and the Hazám Award (XXI. Század Társaság) in 2016.
