Miklós Biró
Between 1977 and 2001, he was a research associate, project, department and quality manager at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Computer Science and Automation Research Institute (SZTAKI). He worked as a professor in Hungary and between 1983 and 1987 in the USA at Rutgers, City University of New York and St. John's Universities. In the meantime, in 1983, he became a doctor of the University of Budapest. In 1995, he obtained a joint Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Purdue University (USA) and École Supérieure de Commerce de Rouen (France), and then in 1999, a Master of Science in Management degree from Purdue University (USA).
Between 2002 and 2010, he was an associate professor at the Corvinus University of Budapest (BCE), where he received his habilitation in 2009. Between 2010 and 2011, he was an associate professor and project director at the Gábor Dénes College (GDF); in 2012, he was appointed as a college professor.
Since 2012, he has been a senior researcher at the Software Competence Center Hagenberg, and since 2016 at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz.
Author and co-author of several international and Hungarian publications and books. He was an initiator and leader in several projects funded by the European Commission and in European organizations. He has performed expert consulting work at the request of several domestic and foreign institutions. He is a member of the National Doctoral Council (ODT) and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Founding chairman of the Software Quality Management department of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He is the representative of Hungary in the 2nd Technical Committee (TC-2) of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) dealing with software theory and practice, where he is the coordinator of the Manfred Paul Software Excellence Award. He was the chairman of scientific and professional conferences, a member of program committees and journal editorial boards.
Awards: Youth Award (SZTAKI, 1982); Professional Literature Award (Transportation Science Association, 1991); Institute Award (SZTAKI, 1996, 1998, 2001); Kalmár Award (NJSZT, 2001); Neumann Award (NJSZT, 2010); Outstanding Service Award (IFIP, 2011); Outstanding Associate Editor Award (e-Informatica, 2013).
