Andor Abonyi-Tóth
In 1999, he began his teaching career as an assistant professor in the Informatics Methodology Group of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of ELTE. He was the first to launch an eLearning course on IT within the Informatics Department of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, which was freely accessible to the public. He participated in the development of the themes and digital curriculum of several university courses, several of which received the eLearning Quality Award.
Since the establishment of the ELTE Faculty of Informatics in 2003, he has been a lecturer and then an associate professor at the Department of Media and Educational Informatics, and has been performing teaching tasks in the BSc/MSc in Informatics program, as well as in the undivided teacher training programs, as well as in the higher vocational training programs launched by the IK.
He actively participated in the localization and dissemination of the new generation Logo language environment (Imagine Logo) in Hungary. From 2003 to 2007, he was the head of the IT subject section of the Sulinet educational portal. He participated in the development of several teacher training programs and obtained a master trainer qualification in several training programs. He is the author/co-author of several IT books.
Since 2010, he has been a member of the ELTE T@T lab, which deals with the implementation, research and development of experience-based learning environments. He is one of the organizers of the “micro:bit stumbling” program, the aim of which is to enable Hungarian educational institutions to hold playful programming sessions using micro:bit devices (free of charge). He has developed several support materials to promote the domestic dissemination of micro:bits, and has also participated in the explanation of the block programming interface.
He defended his doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology of ELTE in 2014. His research area is ensuring equal access to internet-based, collaborative platforms and examining their role in learning.
He has published the results of his research and development at numerous conferences, in journals and in book chapters. He has also actively participated in the work of the program committees of several domestic and international conferences. Since 2012, he has been performing expert tasks in the field of ensuring equal access to information and communication technologies.
Honors: ELTE IK Outstanding Lecturer (2010, 2014, 2017); Tarján Rezső Award (NJSZT, 2010).
