Internet Fiesta 2024

25. Internet Fiesta PRO: reason and emotion

Call:

The Information Technology and Library Association looks back on a tradition of more than two decades, when it encourages domestic libraries to organize Internet Fiestas with the support of the National Cultural Fund. There is a lot of debate these days about the social effects, benefits and dangers of the application of artificial intelligence, some see it as Pandora's box, others as a cornucopia. The title of the 25th Internet Fiesta PRO: reason and emotion aims to reflect on this duality, referring to the objective usability of online services and artificial intelligence in particular, but also to our subjective - positive and negative - feelings related to the topic. Online services renewed by artificial intelligence have become a defining feature of our everyday lives, and for many this is tangible when they use services determined by algorithms that increasingly take individual user habits into account, and which appear in all areas of life, from education to the entertainment industry. Self-learning, new-generation search engines pose a challenge to libraries that are competitive in providing information, and indeed to the entire education system. Meanwhile, the issue of the authenticity of information is becoming more and more important. Even libraries cannot provide comprehensive answers to questions related to artificial intelligence today, but citizens, institutions and society can be partners in mapping the potential of AI and identifying “risks and side effects”. This year's festival programs will take place in person and virtually between March 21-28, 2024. Our suggestions for the topics of the 25th Internet Fiesta PRO: Reason and Emotion program series in 2024: Introduction of MI and MI artificial intelligence-based information search and imaging services (OPEN AI, CHAT GPT, Bing, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion DALL-E 2, etc.) Competence+ individual and group digital competence development in libraries (in addition to public education, library programs and initiatives supporting lifelong learning) Library PRO programming, robotics, reading in libraries. This topic is particularly valuable in connection with the results of the reading comprehension competence assessments that became known in 2023. In addition to robotics, all other tools and programs with which libraries have been supporting reading development digitally in recent years can also be presented (such as stop motion and comic-based processing, QR code games, filming book and service trailers for YouTube, TikTok, creating Reels videos, using LEGO Education, mobile applications, etc.). Added value is the presentation of value-added digital library services for all segments of society (online services developed by libraries, and initiatives providing access through mediated services). Online Learning Day - presentation of domestic and international online training, courses, courses and applications Natural intelligence answers - personality-forming, psychological challenges of the online world. You can join the topics with lectures, games, presentations. We ask county libraries to help libraries in their region to organize successful programs, and to involve their small-town service providers as well.
