Mission
The iTF considers it its task to collect, systematize, analyze, process, interpret, and draw conclusions from the active figures, material memories, events, data, and characteristics of Hungarian IT history. Its task is to make all of this accessible, present it, disseminate it, and prepare it for use for educational purposes. The significance of this work is enhanced by the fact that past and present IT events – as a consequence of the operation of our institutional system – are not always officially recorded, but rather preserved only by the memory of the participants and occasional media announcements. The iTF also undertakes to organize events that revive the past of an institution and publish them later, as well as to record the experiences and experiences of an outstanding personality in video reports, and in some cases to produce review publications.
The iTF's main task is to create a digital archive, a "virtual museum" (Informatikatörténeti Adattár – iTA), which collects data on the profession's domestic actors, institutions, products, events, and important written, video and other audio materials. It strives to ensure that the archive is factual, realistic, and easy to understand. Although the archive can never be complete by its nature, the editors strive to collect, record, and preserve all data and materials that come into their field of vision. Selection according to various criteria is made during processing and presentation, taking into account the planned levels of publicity (e.g. editors, external contributors, researchers, professional audience, general interested parties, students, etc.). Access rights differ at each level.
