In 1978, the company changed its name from VSZFT to ECONORG, and there were reorganizations in the company's management. The headquarters also changed, moving from the former Ajtós Dürer sóry to Erzsébet Királyné út.
Miklós Preisich, who was the director of the Association, dealt with the technological and system engineering issues of chemical industry integration in his PhD thesis. He was the Secretary General of the Hungarian Chemists' Association. He is responsible for the establishment of the Federation of European Chemicals Associations, of which he was the Secretary (1969-83).
