    Transformations

    The Research and Experimental Department operated in the Ganz Electricity Factory, from which the Central Research Laboratory of the Electrical Industry (VKKL) was formed in 1949, which was renamed the Electrical Industry Research Institute (VKI) in 1956. The VKI ceased to exist without a successor in 1994. By 1991, the Institute had been transformed into 12 companies with additional capital. In 1995, the Institute's staff established the Electrical Industry Cooperative Office Ltd.
