VITUKI (Water Science Research Institute): computer center, telecommunications network
It was founded in November 1981 as a cooperative.
After 2-3 months, it was transformed into a small cooperative. OKISZ (now the Hungarian Federation of Industries) supported Softcoop with a starting capital of 600 thousand forints so that they could try out the legal procedure (which arises during the transformation from a cooperative to a small cooperative), which took place on January 1, 1982. This made it the fourth small cooperative in the country, and the first in the field of IT.
In 1990/91, the liquidation of the company began and the company disappeared completely.
They were the first in the field and in the capacity of what we now call “individual entrepreneurs.” Members took on individual projects and recruited collaborators. Each such team consisted of 2-5 people, typically with 2-3 external collaborators, who worked on assignments lasting a few months.
They mainly undertook tasks in foreign currency, which, according to the rules at the time, was converted into forint revenue through METRIMPEX as an export-import company.
