NJSZT developed under the auspices of MTESZ to an independent legal status as follows:
KAB. In 1961, at the initiative of Philip Miklós, with the support of Béla Zentai (OMFB), the KAB (Central Automation Committee) was established, connected to the secretariat of the MTESZ, which gathered around itself those professionals who were interested in computer technology and automation (e.g. Rezső Tarján, László Kozma) to organize discussions and meetings.
IKOSZ. In October 1963, IKOSZ (Information Processing, Cybernetics and Operations Research Department) was established under the central secretariat of MTESZ, which functioned as an independent organizational unit of MTESZ, in contrast to KAB. Traces of the department's work can be seen, for example, in the following book. György Kondor: Integer programming II/A. MTESZ Information Processing, Cybernetics and Operations Research Department/IKOSZ/ Notes of the Operations Research Course/Manuscript. Editor: Ferenc Fazekas.
1965 AIOT. In 1965, IKOSZ was transformed into the Automation Information Processing and Operations Research Council (AIOT), which became an organization with a status similar to the member associations of MTESZ. It had four departments: Computer Engineering (Tibor Szentiványi, Gyöző Kovács). Programming Systems (Bálint Dömölki, Miklós Havass). Operations Research (Géza Jándy, Tibor Pongrátz). Systems Theory (István Kiss, Vilmos Neményi (?)). Two conferences organized by AIOT remain in memory: Computer Engineering Conference (23-26.09.1968, AIOT Computer Engineering Department, Esztergom). Modern Programming Languages Summer University (1968.08.18-08.21. AIOT. Department of Programming Systems of the Automation, Information Processing and Operations Research Council of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.) NJSZT is a member organization of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
In 1968, AIOT was transformed and took on a new name: NJSZT (Neumann János Computer Science Society), a full member of MTESZ (as an independent legal entity). The self-perception of NJSZT considers this date as the date of the Society's establishment. First President: Rezső Tarján. Secretary General: Iván Kádár. NJSZT is an independent association.
In 1972, using the opportunity provided by the change in the company law, the associations of the MTESZ – including the NJSZT – became independent legal entities, which formally voluntarily (from the bottom up) established the MTESZ as an umbrella organization (Association).
Membership of 2000-5000 people, departmental system; regional organizations. Organizes events. In 1968, it jointly organized the IFIP World Congress with Vienna. Operates the domestic ECDL center. Organizes study competitions. Publishes publications. Preserves the memories of domestic IT history. Awards awards.
DE Digital Equal Opportunities Conference will be organized for the 10th time in 2016
