NetLock Ltd. is Hungary's first qualified authentication and timestamping service provider. It started issuing certificates for electronic signatures in 1996, and then participated in the preparatory work for Act No. XXXV of 2001 on electronic signatures. After the law came into force, it was the first to obtain the title of enhanced security authentication and timestamping service provider, and then in the spring of 2003, the qualified authentication and timestamping service provider. Since 1999, it has been included in all Microsoft products as a top-level authentication service provider, so NetLock certificates are accepted worldwide. Based on NetLock's qualification, it performs activities equivalent to other international authentication service providers in terms of both infrastructure and procedure.

During its activities, NetLock Kft. - in cooperation with the Ministry of Informatics and Communications and other state administration bodies - has strived from the beginning to create an appropriate regulatory environment for the use of electronic signatures, to support the spread of electronic signatures at a societal level with specific measures, and to accelerate official procedures where possible.

The services of NetLock Ltd. contribute to the operation of electronic technologies that promote authentic electronic communication and administration, as well as the development of the information society.

With the help of its services, for example:

• electronic invoicing, for which NetLock provides enhanced security and qualified electronic signatures and time stamps;
• electronic archiving, for which NetLock also provides enhanced security and qualified electronic signatures and time stamps;
• electronic tax return, during which NetLock provides certificates and timestamp services for the APEH tax and PSzÁF pension fund electronic tax return systems;
• website protection, which NetLock ensures by issuing SSL certificates that are accepted worldwide;
• online closure for betting games, for which NetLock provides a qualified timestamp service and back-check infrastructure for betting systems.

NetLock Kft. also actively participated in the establishment of the Hungarian Electronic Signature Association (MELASZ), an organization that helps the domestic spread of electronic signatures, in December 2003, in which Zsolt Rózsahegyi, the head of NetLock Kft., holds the position of president.
