In 2000, Ingram Micro Inc. acquired 100% of Walton's shares. The predecessor of Ingram Micro Inc. was founded in 1979 in the United States under the name Micro D Inc. by Géza Csige and Lorraine Mecca.
In spring 2016, Ingram Micro announced the acquisition of RRC’s Central and Eastern European division (RRC CEE). In the year and a half following the acquisition, which was completed in June 2016, the integration of Ingram Micro and RRC took place – both regionally and in Hungary. Following the successful merger of the two Hungarian companies, the two IT distributors will continue to operate as a single company in Hungary as of October 2017.
The changes also affected the domestic management structure. Ferenc Lázár, former CEO of Ingram Micro, became the company's regional manager and vice president responsible for the Central and Eastern European markets. Attila Virágh, former CEO of RRC, holds the position of CEO of Ingram Micro.
The coordination of the domestic merger of the two companies and the division of tasks were significantly facilitated by the fact that the two leaders have similar experiences and business approaches, and thus an effective management team was formed at the helm of the huge IT distributor.
