ICL was one of the biggest competitors to the System/360 – System/370 systems manufactured by the American IBM.
ICT/ICL machines were very popular in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union, as IBM could not or only very difficultly deliver products to these regions due to the embargo during the Cold War.
