The industrial development regulations of the years 1951-1955 – in line with the technical development of national defense – determined the establishment of a domestic production base for heavy communications equipment. The development was launched at the Budapest site of the “GAMMA Fine Mechanics and Optics Works National Company”, under the management of the Military Technology Institute. Due to the special nature of the products and in order to ensure the concentrated management of the introduction of production, on May 21, 1951, the Industrial Economic Council established the “No. 1 Fine Mechanics Company”. The company, as the HM company No. 6055, began operating at the GAMMA site. The rapid construction of Fehér út enabled the relocation of individual departments from 1951. In the first half of 1952, the last department also moved from the GAMMA site to the Fehér út site. Company No. 6055, pursuant to the decision of the Minister of Medium-Scale Machinery H. 15;65/1952, has been called FINE MECHANICAL COMPANY since June 1, 1952.
The Space Communications Ground Station in Taliandörögd was built in 1977. At the request of the Hungarian Post Office, FMV is the main contractor in charge of the technological installation of the station's communications equipment. By 1978, it became final that FMV would also supply the microwave equipment for the Moscow Olympics.
