In the early 1980s, ÉGSZI (Institute of Construction Economics and Organization) and ÉM Számgép operated in parallel, performing the same task. However, this could not remain so for long, so the company was merged with ÉGSZI on January 1, 1982, which resulted in the cessation of ÉM Számgép.
SZÁMGÉP was one of the first Hungarian companies to perform high-level mathematical and engineering calculations and to use matrix calculations. This was largely due to János Szabó, an engineer, mathematician, deputy minister, and later state secretary, who, influenced by his experiences at the Brussels World Fair, delved into the world of computer technology and matrices.
Lajos Lipták was a very prominent person who, together with János Kornai, created the famous economic model.
