Magda Várterész

After graduating, he started working as an assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science of the Institute of Mathematics of Kossuth Lajos University (KLTE). He soon earned his doctorate and later his PhD. Since 2005, he has been a member of the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Informatics (IK) of the University of Debrecen (DE), its successor institution, and is an associate professor. In 2003, he co-authored a book on logic (also suitable as a textbook) with Katalin Pásztorné Varga, which also summarized the international situation at the time.

Meanwhile, between 2005 and 2010, he also taught at Nyíregyháza College as a college professor with additional legal status.

His field of study and teaching is mathematical logic, artificial intelligence, and previously numerical methods. He publishes in Hungarian, English, and Russian. Several of his students obtained PhD degrees under his supervision between 2000 and 2014.

Foreign invitations, study trips: University of Hamburg (1998, 2000, 2005); University of Athens (2001); Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca (2002, 2004); Savoya University, Chambery (2004); Sapientia University, Târgu Mureș (2006).

He actively participates in professional and university public life. Between 2003 and 2012, he was an elected member of the Informatics and Computer Science Committee of the Department of Mathematical Sciences of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and since 2001, he has been the secretary of the Doctoral School of Mathematics and Computer Sciences of the Hungarian University of Science and Technology, and a member and leader of various committees of the Hungarian University of Science and Technology dealing with educational organization.
