András Varga
Between 1956 and 1959, while still a university student, he participated in the work of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Cybernetics Research Group (KKCS), in the preparations for the creation of the first domestically produced computer (M-3).
Between 1961 and 1981, he taught at the Department of Wired Telecommunications, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Budapest University of Technology (BME), and then at the successor Institute of Telecommunications Electronics (HEI) as an assistant professor and as an adjunct professor (linear networks; digital technology; data transmission; computer networks). He received the Virágh-Pollák Award from the Telecommunications Scientific Association (HTE) in connection with the publication of his doctoral dissertation in a specialized journal (Telecommunications).
In 1971, he became the head of the newly established computing center at HEI.
Between 1982 and 1990, he worked as a department head at the Institute of Scientific Organization and Informatics, and at its successor, TUDORG Informatics and Organization Company. He participated in the work of a Computer-Aided Education project financed by UNIDO (the United Nations Industrial Development Organization), and was responsible for the hardware and software of the national School Computer Program.
Between 1990 and 1991, he became the manager of the Atari desktop computer business and the head of the Atari Brand Store at Novotrade Rt.
Between 1992 and 1993, he was a computer science instructor at Számalk Rendszerház Rt. within the framework of the Microsoft Education Group.
Later, he worked for companies that were not specifically computer technology.
He was a member of the National Association of Hungarian Scientists; worked in the former Teledata Processing Committee (1978-82); and worked in the computer technology committee of the Hungarian Standards Institute (MSZT) (clarifying English terms).
