Laszlo Uhereczky
He worked at the Telephone Factory for 12 years from 1965. As head of the Computer Development Department, he led the development and production of data transmission modems, terminals and multiplexers.
From 1976 to 1985, he managed the research and development of space telecommunications voice and data transmission systems in various projects as a data transmission chief designer at the Telecommunications Research Institute (TKI).
Meanwhile, he worked as a fellow in Japan in 1970 and as a visiting researcher in England (National Physical Laboratory) in 1978/1979.
Between 1971 and 1985, he participated in the work of the Unified Computer System (UCS). Later, he was the head of the Hungarian delegation in the international standardization organization ISO TC97/SC6 (Information Processing Systems / Data Communication).
In 1986, he worked at Microsoft's Redmond site on the creation of the first Hungarian-language Microsoft software, the early spreadsheet Multiplan.
From 1989, he was the CEO of Olivetti Hungary Kft., and then remained the head of the domestic subsidiaries of international IT companies that were formed through transformations (Wang Global Hungary Kft., later Getronics Magyarország Kft.).
Under his leadership, these companies participated in the development of the Hungarian IT infrastructure. They played a significant role in, among others, the following: the introduction of ATMs in Hungary; the implementation of bank card payments and cash withdrawals in 3200 rural offices of the Hungarian Post; the IT system of the Customs and Financial Guard; the support of the work of the police with an IT system; the motorway toll payment and its control system; the land registry system of the Ministry of Agriculture.
He has been retired since 2002.
