  • He graduated from the Debrecen Piarist High School in 1947 and from there he applied to the Piarist order, where he took solemn vows on March 23, 1952, and was ordained a priest on September 20. After obtaining his teaching diploma, he became prefect at the Kecskemét Piarist dormitory in 1954, and then from 1955 he also taught at the high school, teaching polytechnics and industrial drawing in addition to his specialist subjects. He was also a class teacher, enjoyed leading the choir, and organized bicycle tours in the summer.

    He began working on the introduction of programmed education in Kecskemét. In the 1961/62 academic year, he built a so-called teaching machine, which he widely described in professional journals (e.g. Tanítógép építse, Magyar Pedagógia 1964:1), at conferences, and was even presented on József Öveges' television program in the fall of 1964.

    From September 1964, he taught mathematics, physics and polytechnics at the Piarist Gymnasium in Budapest. Here, together with his brother Mihály Kovács, they designed the electronic teaching aid Didaktomat, which was suitable for answering questions from forty students at the same time and checking their knowledge. Their machine was also presented at exhibitions, and ten copies were made for distribution.

    • He fell ill in late 1969 and was diagnosed with severe leukemia. He was hospitalized in December and died on January 10, 1970, at the age of just 41.
