Education, professional qualification:
  • Planning and Mathematical Economist - MKKE - 1967.
  • Academic degree:
Candidate of Hungarian Academy of Sciences - 1980

Before, during and after the university years of 1962-1967, he was a research assistant at the Cybernetics Research Group (KKCS) of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, a graduate of the classical M-3 school.

In 1969, he defended his doctoral dissertation entitled "Mathematical Analysis of Shadow Price Series" at the Department of Mathematics of the Marx Károly University of Economics (MKKE).

He was a founding member of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Budapest (then known as Közgáz). He played a decisive role (by developing teaching materials, writing notes, and giving lectures) in establishing a mandatory 4-semester computer science course for all students at the university.

Between 1972 and 1973, Ford was a fellow in the USA (MIT, Harvard). The knowledge he gained there determined his later educational and research activities. As a researcher of discrete simulation modeling, he published numerous conference presentations, notes, and books. Subjects were developed within this framework, and diploma theses and university doctoral dissertations were written.

In 1980, he defended his PhD thesis entitled “Discrete Stochastic Simulation of Economic Processes” at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Later, he was the head of the Department of Computer Science at the Hungarian National University of Science and Technology for several terms (interrupted by invitations to the USA as a visiting professor). During this time, a wide spectrum of computer science training at Közgáz was developed, with various specializations, foreign language training, and advanced training.

In addition to Közgáz, he has written notes and taught for several higher education institutions; he also publishes and gives lectures in English, German, and Russian.
He taught for 5 years at American universities (MIT, RUTGERS, CMSU). He has implemented about a hundred applied systems (research (KK) works carried out on the basis of external departmental assignments, within the framework of ECONOMIX Small Cooperative and TQ Consulting Economic Consulting Center Ltd.).

He was a recipient of the Széchenyi Professorship for many years. He is one of the first Gold Medalists and Honorary Associate Professors of the Corvinus University of Budapest (BCE).
