Ervin Szücs
After graduating from university, he worked on combustion systems at the Thermal Engineering Research Institute. He headed the computer center of the Institute of Building Sciences (ÉTI) for 10 years. In 1961, he became a candidate of technical sciences and in 1973, a doctor of technical sciences.
In 1979, he initiated the training of teachers in technology at the Faculty of Science of ELTE and, as a university professor, he was the head of the department until 1995. In the meantime, he also held this position at the Janus Pannonius University (JPTE) (1984-1988).
He was the head of the IT and technical education college of the National Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology (OPNI) (1988-1990) and the scientific advisor of the National Institute of Public Education (1990-1993). Under his leadership, a new (modular) curriculum was developed.
He is a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences's Complex Committee on the History of Science and Technology, a visiting professor at the Darmstadt Technical College between 1990 and 1991, and an invited lecturer at the Szolnok College between 1999 and 2002. Even as a retiree, he regularly gave lectures at ELTE.
He participated in the creation of the Hungarian Encyclopedia by writing and proofreading technical articles. He is the author of 19 books, 17 textbooks, 145 professional articles, and 26 newspaper articles.
