    After obtaining his general medical degree, he worked as a clinical assistant professor at the Internal Medicine Clinic No. 1 of the Medical University of Pécs (POTE). He obtained his internal medicine specialist examination in 1967.
    From 1967, he was the head of the Health Department of the Pécs City Council; then from 1969 to 1991, he was the chief physician of the city of Pécs; he headed the city and micro-regional Unified Health Institutions from 1987 to 1991. Between 1980 and 1990, he represented Hungary as a member of the WHO on the topic of disease prevention and screening.
    In 1991, he started a private internal medicine practice, where he practiced as a family doctor and company physician.

    His research topics are complementary therapies, prevention of non-communicable diseases and medical informatics. In 1992, he participated in the founding of the Gábor Dénes College. He taught at POTE, within the framework of the National Inspectorate for Occupational Safety and Health (OMMF), at the Central Sports School (KSI), and at the Gábor Dénes College. He obtained his PhD degree in 1995 in the field of complex population screening, disease prevention and population health protection.

    He is credited with developing an integrated health information system for the adult population of the city of Pécs; furthermore: developing code dictionaries; developing a mandatory automatic information flow for health workplaces and doctor-patient encounters; statistical processing for the Ministry of Health (EÜM) and through it to the WHO; entering the city of Pécs into the Healthy Cities project (1980); participation in the WHO Cindi program (from 1981); IT cooperation between institutions among the United Health Institutions.

    He has participated in 140 domestic and foreign conferences. He has published 4 books on the topic of medical informatics (3 of which are college textbooks). Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences; member of the Preventive Medicine Committee. Between 1992 and 1994 he was vice-president of the Hungarian Society of Medical Informatics. He was a member of the MEDICOMP'90 program committee.
