  • Electrical Engineer - BME - 1956.

  • After graduating from university, he joined the Central Research Institute of Physics (KFKI) of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences as an electrical engineer. For decades, he headed the Technical Department of the Institute of Particle and Nuclear Physics (RMKI) of the KFKI; upon his retirement, he was the institute's deputy technical director.

    He and his colleagues did outstanding work in the development of CAMAC, a family of computer data acquisition, monitoring, and control peripherals designed for the automation of laboratory and industrial processes. He received his first State Award for this work.

    Under his leadership, the engineers of the KFKI RMKI designed and built numerous spacecraft for various space programs with Hungarian participation (Interkosmosz, Vega, Phobosz, SRG, Cassini, Cluster, Rosetta, etc.), which brought great recognition to Hungarian space research. He received his second State Prize for the results achieved in the Vega program launched to observe Halley's comet.
    He enthusiastically and actively participated in the dissemination of knowledge about space technology - as a member of the board of the Hungarian Astronautical Society.

    Honors: shared State Prize (1980, 1986).

    • Közismerten nagy hobbi-vitorlázó volt. Először 1967-ben kezdeményezett Szántódon, a KFKI akkor még kihasználatlan vállalati telkén, a későbbi KFKI Camping területén munkatársaival vitorlástábort. Ezt a KFKI Petőfi Sportkör néven működött sportegyesületének vitorlázás szakosztályaként folytatták, amelynek haláláig vezetője volt. (Igaz később már Szántódi Kemping Szabadidő és Sport Egyesületet néven; majd utóbb, már halála után ebből lett a Szántódi Vitorlás Egyesület.)
