Géza Somogyváry

Between 1969 and 1972, he worked as an organizational consultant at the Kontakta Parts Factory, working on computerized production control and product development mesh models, among other things.

From 1972 to 1973, he was a consultant at the Metropolitan Information Center (FŐINFORM). Determining the service ranking of districts was a constant problem here; he wrote an analytical study on this topic entitled “Study of the Service of Metropolitan Districts with Factor Analysis”.

Between 1972 and 1980, he was the head of the systems organization department at SZÖVADAT Computer Company, and between 1980 and 1985, he was the office manager, where he worked on the development of information systems for small and medium-sized enterprises. (SZÖVADAT later transformed into the Organization and Computer Company of the National Association of Small-scale Cooperatives (OKISZ).)
Under his leadership, in 1976, the Industrial Cooperatives Management System (ISZIR) was developed for the R-20 computer, which was soon operating successfully in four locations. In 1980, a production management system for garment factories was developed under the name HERUKON (Hegyalja Ruházati Konfekció); the system developed for the VT 30 was later adapted to a PC network.

Between 1985 and 1992, as the commercial director of SOFTINVEST Software Trading and Development Co., Ltd., he managed the computer solutions for various administrative procedures. In 1989, under his leadership, a small business administration system plan was prepared, among other things.

Meanwhile, he taught at the Bánki Donát Technical College (BDMF), the Institute of Engineering Continuing Education of the Budapest University of Technology (BME), the Computer Science Education Center (Számok) and various leadership training institutions.

1992-ben nyugdíjba vonult, ám dolgozott tovább. 1992-1993 között a Volán Elektronika Rt.-nél; 1994-1997 között az Unisoftware Kft.-nél; majd 1998-2005 között a DEBIS-T-Systems Rt.-nél volt tanácsadó. 2005-től a Pannunion Csomagolóanyag Nyrt. igazgatósági tagja volt.

Professional award: Outstanding Employee of the Profession (President of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, 1982).
