Vera Siegler
After obtaining his electrical engineering degree, he worked at the AUTOKER Computer Center, where he learned the basics of system programming. In 1976, he joined the State Administrative Computer Service (ÁSZSZ) of the Central Statistical Office (KSH), where he worked as a program designer in a mainframe environment until 1982.
He worked at the Institute of Science Organization and Informatics (TII) between 1982 and 1986. In the early years, he was responsible for the development and coordination of the higher education admissions information system, and then became the subject manager of the national school computer program.
In 1986, he joined the Application Technology Cooperative, where he began working in GIS as a software developer. During these years, he created – for the first time in the country – the methodology for digital map making, which determined his career in the following decades. In connection with this, he began developing the Transport Registration Basic System (KANYAR) for the capital, where symbols of transport-related information could be edited and registered on the digital base map of Budapest.
In 1991, he founded Topolisz Térinformatikai Stúdió Kft., of which he has been the managing director since the beginning. The company has created countless successful projects, primarily in the field of digital map-based route planning and transport optimization. It took a pioneering role in creating a unified Hungarian transport base map. For several years, InfoTouch kiosks developed by Topolisz existed at busy junctions in Budapest, which suggested routes for commuters. This was replaced by the popular “utvonalterv.hu” online transport map portal. In addition, Topolisz Kft. has created countless unique GIS solutions for companies and institutions.
It played a prominent role in connecting databases of various themes - especially tourism and transport - with maps and in their utilization.
In parallel, between 2002 and 2012, he managed Top-Map Kft., where a unique navigation map database was created in Hungary: the Hungarian map base for most car and mobile phone navigation applications. During his management, Top-Map was the only Hungarian partner of the world's two leading navigation map companies.
