    After graduating from university, he worked at the Computer Science and Automation Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences until 2001; as a scientific associate, group leader, and then department head. He participated in the development of SZTAKI's quality system and also led the professional support project of the Information Technology Reconstruction Program of Paks Nuclear Power Plant.

    He received his doctorate from the Budapest University of Technology (BME) in 1979. In the meantime, he began his PhD studies at SZTAKI and the Institute of Cybernetics in Kiev, in correspondence form, from 1984. As a result, he defended his PhD in mathematics and computer sciences, first in Kiev in 1987 and then in Budapest in 1988.

    Main scientific fields: database management, information systems, information technology risk management, human-computer interaction, multimedia, information technology networks.

    From 2002, he was the development director of Kürt Zrt., where he was responsible for development.

    In 2008, he transferred to ThalesNano Zrt. He was Technical Director at the company, which is engaged in innovative activities in the field of nanotechnology and laboratory flow technology (microfluidics), until 2010.

    After that, he worked at the BME Informatics Directorate (originally known as TIO) as a senior research fellow, then as deputy director (2011-2012), and finally as director (2012-2018). As head of the Telecommunications and Informatics Department, he was responsible for providing university network services. He also taught postgraduate students.

    Between 2002 and 2010, he was an associate professor and project manager at the Faculty of Technical Informatics of the University of Pannonia (PE). In addition to teaching, he also led industrial-university projects.

    He has been a member of the Hungarian Society of Software Engineers since 1980, and at one time also served as the Secretary of the Software Quality Management Department; he was the Vice President of the Society between 2001-2006. From 2000 to 2019, he was a member of the Accreditation Committee of the European Computer Driving License (ECDL) program (representing MTA SZTAKI, KÜRT Zrt. and BME); he was its co-chair for several years. He was also a member of the MTA Informatics and Computer Science Committee.

    Award: Neumann Prize (NJSZT, 2003).
